Every school should have atleast one adequately equipped Computer Lab with a minimum of 10 computers or computer student ratio of 1:20 and proper software. Wherever such facility is available, every school should have the facility of Broad Band Connectivity with the feature of Internet always on from any service Providers. Development of software is an expensive affair and the Government should make sufficient funds available for the purpose. Software produced should be widely disseminated via Internet and CD-ROMs. Free software should be specifically promoted. In terms of content, the Focus Group on Habitat and Learning has made a good beginning by proposing a country-wide open, transparent and publicly accessibleinformation system on different facets of India’s environment.
